Landscape Paintings
This encaustic was created at a wonderful workshop in Basel, Switzerland. It is called a photo encaustic. A photo is copied on a thin paper and then embedded into a warm beeswax and resin surface. I took this photo on a cold January day (-20) from the bluffs above the Mississippi River. Heat is used throughout the process to seal each layer. Colored pigments are built up wax and used to create interest, along with other mediums to bring the trees forward in this picture to create depth and mood. This picture can be purchase separately or as part of a diptych set with Tranquil Winter I........quite beautiful together!
